Baños is a small peaceful town, a three hours drive from Quito. Town surrounded by mountains and has a wonderful healthy hot spring waters. Baños is at 1,820 meters above sea level, on the skirts of the Tungurahua volcano which is 5,061 m.a.s.l. (16,600 ft.) high and it has an average temperature all year around of 18 degrees centigrades. It`s population is 18,000 inhabitants.

At the base of the Tungurahua volcano (5,061m.) meets this center of waters with mineral and medicinal properties. In their Basilica Virgin of Agua Santa awake the religious fervor of thousands of faithfuls that come to visit it. The one which more attention gets is the fabrication of a candy named melcocha, it is handicraft formed by breaking the candy against the wall.
