On Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, at 7am. the train goes from the station at the city of Riobamba up track to a protruding and steep mountain called Nariz del Diablo (Devil`s nose). Trains are not a very competent mode of transportation in Ecuador. However, they present a spectacular tourist attraction for the variety of climates and the fantastic natural and cultural scenery along the journeys like Chimborazo 6,310m.a.s.l. (20,070ft.) high, the highest mountain in Ecuador and the farthest poin from the center of the earth, due to the earth`s equatorial bulge. |
Well known as “Sultana de los Andes” enclosed of giant snowy mountains that sem to form a crown, in days of clear skies is possible to admire their snowy peaks while you are around the area. From here every Wednesday, Friday and Sunday the train leaves toward Alausí for the most exiting part of the train-trip to Nariz del Diablo (Devil´s nose).
